So this is really late, I know, but there's always something in the way of me doing posts! So I'll probably do 3 today. We'll see how long she sleeps.
Our very first Christmas! Not that Rowan could open presents or anything, but it was still fun. Gramma Nora and Matthew came over in the morning to open presents with us and have a tasty brunch. With some quality Gramma cuddle time thrown in. Then it was onto the computer with Uncle Mark so we could Skype with Gramma Robin and Grampa Henry in Mexico. That was tons of fun. Like most of our Skype visits, Rowan tried to sleep through it, but we kept her awake for some Christmas smiles. Last family visit of the day was to Gramma Lynne and Grampa Doug's. There we got turkey, fabulous appy's and more cuddle time with Gramma Lynne and Aunt Jenny. Aunt Krista's still not quite brave enough for a cuddle. And then, like all good little girls, off to bed. With all the excitement, she didn't get much napping in, but she did well, not getting too grouchy for us.
Her gifts were some more clothes, some great stuffed toys and a few books. She likes us to read to her, so the board books are already fun. One of the hits was from Jay, Cary and Morgan. A suction cup toy that can go onto the highchair tray, it was her favorite new toy. The first time we got it out, she threw her head back to laugh at it! Love those laughs!
Pretty cool toy!
It was a good Christmas. Can't wait until next year when she can (hopefully) open her own presents!
We also ventured out for New Year's Eve briefly. We headed over to Melissa and Gary's for a glass of wine and some very tasty meatballs. Oh yeah, and there was visiting too, but Melissa is the "Hideous Hostess" and so the food and booze are always top notch. We only stayed for an hour or so, but it was nice to still be able to go out with Rowan. That's the beauty of taking a baby out with you visiting. You get a nice break since everyone wants to hold her!
Auntie Rhonda offered to keep her (Troy made sure we were taking her home with us, several times) and Gary held her for quite a while. It was a nice little mellow outing for New Year's Eve. Maybe next year we'll spring for a sitter, but people are so disappointed when you don't bring the baby with you! It's like, "Where's that baby?! Oh yeah, hi Bob, James. Now gimme that baby!"
