We brought out the Mega Blocks this week, and Rowan is fascinated! She's been trying to combine toys for a month or more already, so I thought now would be a good time for blocks. She can't quite put them together yet, but she loves to take them apart and try to put them back together. It's amazing how many different towers you can make with 6 or 7 blocks. And both James and I love Lego, so this is the beginning of many a building session with Mom and Dad.
Big happenings this week other than the Mega Blocks too! A couple days ago, Rowan learned how to really move! She goes down onto her belly, half in a crawl position, then uses her hands and feet to push herself backwards! I can't believe how far and how quick she can move like that! One minute she's by the coffee table, next minute she's got her bum up against the speaker and I'm trying to figure out how she got there! With any luck she'll figure out how to get going forwards a little better. She kind of scoots a bit on her bum, but not nearly as well as she does going backwards on her tummy.
The other big achievement: She learned how to sit up on her own! Yesterday, I watched her backwards-belly-crawl two feet or so across the living room, push her legs back into the splits and push herself slowly up onto her belly! Coolest thing since her first laugh! She did it 3 times yesterday and twice today. She still gets upset sometimes when she falls from sitting onto her face, but at least now she can push herself up. Very exciting stuff!
