Souffle!

We've been watching Master Chef lately and other shows from the Food Network. I keep seeing them making souffles, which are generally considered the one of the most challenging things to make. I decided to give it a go. They just look so tasty! So a few weeks ago, I made my first one. It was great! Prosciutto, mushroom and smoked cheddar. The smoked cheddar was a little overpowering though. It was a lot easier than I thought it would be, although time consuming, especially since we don't have a mixer to beat the egg whites stiff. It's a fantastic tricep workout. Only one problem with it: we all wanted more!

My very first souffle!

My second souffle, bigger & just as tasty!

So this morning I made another one, bigger, with ham, mushroom, cheddar and asiago. Awesome! But it was just a little too big to be cooked in the time they recommend. So next time, another five minutes. The best thing about it though is that it's almost the only way to get Rowan to eat eggs. Although it's easy to eat eggs when they're baked with a cup and a half of cheese.

She's getting pretty good at using her fork too

We also gave her dill pickles for the first time at lunch today. Her reaction was a little disappointing though. No sour face, no nothing. Well, she did say, "Mmmmm." I would have liked to have seen a sour face, but our girl just seems to like almost everything.

And just 'cause this province sucks:

That's what we woke up to this morning. Happy spring! Yeah right.
