Life as a family

Whew, it's been a busy couple weeks!
Right off the bat things were cookin' and we went from a couple to a family quicker than we could have ever imagined.

Grandpa Henry, Grandma Robin, Bobbielee, Rowan, James, Uncle Mark

I mean, we were prepared, but you just don't get it until you have that beautiful baby at home and are trying to figure out what your life now entails. I'm pleased to say that aside from some minor issues with baby not pooping for a few days (q-tip up the bunghole fixed that - and I never thought I'd be cheering for poop. Really!), Bob's milk not amping up production as fast as we'd like (the herbal remedies did the trick), and the baby not latching properly (a flat palate and lack of practice, both of which have been dealt with) we're all doing great and have settled into a comfortable rhythm.

What's a comfortable rhythm for us? Mostly it involves Rowan sleeping through most of the night, 5-6 hours on average. Since I'm back at work, Bob tries to let me sleep, so it's her sleep patterns that are still in flux. Even so, we've got Bob on board with the Nap-When-You-Can plan, and it really helps her that I still do most of the cooking and cleaning (always have, probably always will). I do get up in the wee hours if I'm not working to comfort or change the baby, but most of the time she wants booby, and I can't help her there. Yes, we know we can put breast milk in a bottle, but we'd like to avoid it for as long as possible.

Here's a few pictures from Rowan's first couple weeks.

 Grandma Nora

 A true bundle of joy!

Rowan's first bath. They got waaaaaay better after the first time!

And, just so it's on the record, my Mom, Robin, was around for most of Rowan's 1st and 2nd weeks, helping out round the house and getting in some quality time before heading south for the winter and we loved having her around to help out and visit with. Especially since we won't see her in person now until May. Thanks Mom, we love you! And, happy birthday!

More from our life coming soon (expect posts 3 - 5 times a week from this point onwards)...
