It's cold Gramma Lynne! For any of you who don't know, Gramma Lynne and Grandpa Doug own Homestead Ice cream. Dangerous, I know. Although I didn't eat nearly as much ice cream as I thought I would while I was pregnant. And one of the many bonuses to this is having Lynne make us Kaluha ice cream for Christmas. Mmmm, tasty.
So we stopped in there yesterday so James could give Lynne a hand with her new Blackberry tablet. Grandpa Doug thought it was time Rowan tried a little soft serve. This is actually the second time she's had ice cream, and both had a bit of trauma.
The first time, she kept her tongue out for at least a minute to try to warm it up after having a lick of Mom and Daddy's cone. Very cute. The trauma came from the spoon we gave her to chew on. She was sitting on Lynne's lap and we were all chatting when I glanced down at her and saw just a very small part of the spoon handle sticking out of her mouth, the rest down her throat and a horrible/horrified look on her face. Poor girl! Gramma Lynne had to take her outside in the fresh air to calm her down and that worked like a charm.
This time trying ice cream, Gramma held the spoon, but I think it made her mouth too cold because all of a sudden, she started to cry. She still looked longingly at the bowl of ice cream, but turned away when we offered her more. So I think ice cream will be off the menu for a little bit longer. But we will go back. I mean, ice cream has milk in it, so that's considered part of the dairy food group, right?
