Rowan finally hit 20lbs and we turned the car seats around as soon as we could! We think she enjoys it, but sometimes it's hard to tell. Most of the time, she's very quiet and just looks out the window at everything that's going by. I think it's fun to be able to turn around and actually see her now. At red lights, she passes me her toque so that I can put it on, she laughs and then I give it back for her to pass it to me at the next red light and put it on...and so on and so on. I look like a dummy with a baby toque on my head, but who cares. It makes Rowan laugh.
So how did we find out for sure that she was over 20lbs? Rowan's actually had a cold for about two weeks now and we finally took her to the doctor a couple of days ago, just in case. Turns out it was good we took her in since she now has her first ear infection. Sigh. Here I thought we'd gotten away with not having any. So we also found out this week that she's not allergic to penicillin, so that's good. We've got a few more days on the antibiotics and she should be over the infection. Since she's been on the antibiotics, her wet, smoggy coughs are almost gone, she's not pulling at her ear, her congestion is almost gone and her mood and energy have improved.
James and I are still feeling the effects of the cold though. My ears have both been plugged for three days and James has been congested and has a sore throat. Some people said that Rowan would be sick all the time and other people said we'd all be sick all the time when we put her in daycare and they were all sort of right. We've all gotten more flues and colds since she went into daycare, but they haven't been all that bad. Even with an ear infection Rowan was still her usual chippy self, just needing a bit more attention and a bit more sleep. I think James and I have fared worse since we get less sleep at night and can't nap during the day since we have to go to work. But, after all, someone has to pay the bills around here.
