Ah, the sleeping baby. How wonderful
Rowan is also becoming more and more of a goof-ball.For the last few weeks we have been dealing with the first of the temper tantrums. Wow. Now I get it. My lovely little sweet, can-do-anything-to-and-she-doesn't-care daughter has turned into a kicking, screaming, crying dervish. Now, I hate to make things sound worse than they are (even though I am a master at exaggeration), so I have to clarify that the tantrums don't happen all the time or even everyday, but they do make an impression. It's mostly when she's playing with something that she doesn't want to give up or when you need to take her for a diaper change and she's "busy". Then the kicking, arching the back, screaming and crying starts. She's actually managed to slam her head against the wall beside the change table a couple of times as she tries to either twist out of my reach or get back up into my arms. Sometimes it's just not worth it and we take a toy up for a diaper change or I sing to her and that can get her in a better mood. At the very least, it distracts her enough so I can get the poopy diaper off her before she sticks a foot in it.
She's also teething like crazy. Our girl, she never teethes one at a time! In the last few weeks, she's had 2 bottom molars and a top canine come in, and I think the other top canine is on its way. Not like she'll hold her mouth open so you can see it, but she's been digging at her gums with her finger for the past week or so, so I'm pretty sure. And, oh the drool. I hate that ice cold teething drool. Maybe her goal is to have them all in by 18 months...And we've had a couple of rough nights with waking up 4 or 5 times, lots of crying and then just chatting to herself for a while before she goes back to sleep. Or maybe I just fall asleep and don't hear her chatting for an hour our so.

Why yes, Daddy, I prefer to be pantsless
She figured out how to take her pants off quite a while ago, and so sometimes we go to get her from a nap and she has no pants on. Or she'll be out of sight for a few minutes and when we find her, no pants. It's kinda cute, but drives her Daddy nuts. But it has led to a new fun game: Pants on the Head. It's pretty simple: she takes her pants off, hands them to me and I put them on her head. She laughs, takes them off, hands them to me, so I put them on my head. She laughs, I take them off and hand them to her, she hands them to me, and, well, you get the idea. "On the Head" has been a game we've played for a while, so now everything goes on the head.
On the Head!
She's also decided at random times that she wants different clothes on or toques or whatever. So at any given time, you might see her wandering around the house with her toque on, one mitten, 2 shirts or a dress on over her clothes. It started one morning after I left for work, she insisted that James put her toque on when I left. We assume she wanted to come with me, because putting on her toque means we're going out. On Boxing Day, she insisted that I put her new onesie from Uncle Mark on, on top of the shirt she was already wearing. And when I say insist, I mean she handed it to me and cried if I handed it back, handed it back to me, until I finally put it on her. But it makes for hilarious pictures, and I figure, what's the big deal if she wants to wander around the house with 2 shirts on, a toque and a dress around her neck? As long as we take her out dressed properly, no one will ever know how weird we are. Oops, I just blogged about it. Sigh, oh well, like no one knew how weird I was anyway.
