Vacination Day

So today was vaccination day. I almost cried when someone else's baby started crying because of the needles! It was her 2 month vaccination, the first set of many.
Most of us don't remember getting our vaccinations. I only remember getting a meningitis one sometime in high school. One guy passed out, but other than my fear of needles, and the fact that I'm a huge wuss and jump and practically squeal, I'm good. Good being relative of course. Rowan did great. Better than James and I both thought. Although, I did nurse her through the whole thing. It did wonders. She was nice and relaxed before and having the boobie right there for after the needle was over helped her calm down right away. I was actually surprised that I was the only woman nursing her baby through the vaccinations. It just seems like the best way to go, but we saw several women giving their babies bottles. Now maybe they really weren't able to breastfeed and so had to formula feed, but after going to several La Leche League meetings (breastfeeding group for those who don't know), and hearing some truly heart-rending stories of birth and breastfeeding problems but still managing to develop successful breastfeeding, I just think there should be way more women who do. But that's a whole 'nother post.
Rowan is now asleep after very little fussing. James and I however...
Neither of us get flu shots, but we both had to get the whooping cough vaccination today. Apparently there is/was a bit of an epidemic with several babies getting very sick right around when Rowan was born. I didn't think people even still got whooping cough. We weren't offered the vaccination in the hospital when she was born, so when she got her needle, we both had to get one too. I hate getting shots! Even better: I just had a tetanus shot a couple years ago (for the Guaccamole incident, ask me later), but that doesn't matter, you have to get the tetanus with the whooping cough. No idea why. Tetanus shots are so f*%$ing painful! My arm still hurts a couple hours later. And I just talked to James who has a blinding headache. But we'll live. And on the plus side, if I try to peel my finger instead of the lime again (the aforementioned Incident), my tetanus is good for another 10 years. And we're all good for whooping cough.
I still hate needles. Wait I said that already. Wait, it's still true.
