Look What I Did!

Kitties can see the food, but can't get the food

This is Rowan's new fun game. She's been filling up that big glass jar with lots of other stuff; recycling, jars of sundried tomatoes, cans of Pam, but I thought this was the cutest. Did you know that you can fit about 1/4 of a flat of canned cat food in a big glass jar? Neither did we, but now we all know. Good info for anyone to have. She can also put the lid on, 'cause you know, gotta keep the kitties out.

As she grows, gets more creative and more clever, we've had to start child proofing a bit more. We've had a gate up on the basement stairs since she started crawling, added the plug in covers shortly after, now has come the cupboard door stops. She just learned how to open up the cupboard doors, so we thought it was time to keep some of them closed. I don't really care if she pulls out all the plastic containers, but it is time consuming to pick them all up at night and I'm sure we'll get sick of it soon. However the cleaning supply cupboard...always a good idea to lock up the poisons. She's also realized that if she pulls on the blanket that the phone and remote are sitting on, she can get them within her reach. Clever girl!

The big news on the movement front: She can pull herself up onto her feet! She has been trying for a while and managed to do it with help from James or I a few times in the last week or so. In the last couple of days though, she's managed to do it all by herself! She's pulled herself up beside the couch and up onto James when he's lying on the floor. Crap! Time to move all the stuff another level higher on the shelves! Soon she'll be walking. What an exciting and terrifying prospect.

In other holy crap events, I was out on the deck when suddenly I heard a baby meltdown. I rushed in to find James just picking Rowan up, her crying and us both trying to figure out what happened. What do we think happened? It looks like she got into the clothes pins and pinched her poor little lip. It's a teeny bit swollen and the poor girl bled a little bit from the corner of her mouth. She likely got it open, put in on her lip while trying to chew on it, it pinched her and so she ripped it off. She has a teeny little loose flap of skin on her bottom lip now where we think it pinched her. But to give her credit, she only cried for a minute. She's really good about not crying for long when she gets hurt, maybe partially because we don't make a big deal out of it. And if we don't, she doesn't. Except for the odd exception, but hey, everybody needs a good cry every now and then.
