September? September!? What the heck happened to August?
Oh right, I remember, we were running around all over the place. I think we managed to stay home for not one weekend all month (well, I did, but I was writing). It was the last month of Bob's mat leave and the last month of Summer, so really, we had to get out and see some people and some trees and, God help us, see a lot of mosquitoes, some big enough to saddle and ride...
Emma Lake
It's been a really long time since I'd been to Emma Lake and I forgot just how pretty, and small, it is. We blitzed up for a day visit to meet our friends Rhonda and Troy at their campsite. Short though it was, we had a lot of fun, especially when Troy got us in his kick-ass jet boat for a little fun on the water!

Aside from the "iPod Incident" it was a great day. What's that, you ask? Well, Troy's boat has an iPod hook-up (of course it does) and so we listened to Bob's tunes for a bit. On the walk up the dock to the car Bob's iPod, attached to the exterior of her purse, fell into the lake. I would have taken a picture, but I was busy leaping into the lake and retrieving the device from under the dock. It took some work, but I managed to restore the device partially. It'll do for now, till Bob gets work and we get her an iPhone - it's time, she's ready.
McPhee Lake
Next up was McPhee Lake to visit my Mom and Grandpa Henry. Visiting Robin and Henry is usually pretty relaxing for me since we're all so close, and laid back. It was nice to, since my brother made it up for the weekend as well, and it's been a long time since we were able to get both Davie boys up at the lake with Mom at the same time. Too bad the weather sucked - in an exciting way. We got one hell of an electrical storm the Saturday night, so crazy that there was an hour of dry lightning before we heard thunder or saw rain. And when it did rain, oh boy was it intense! One of the many, many great things about our girl though, is that she slept through the entire storm!

Shell Lake
The other lake visit was up to Shell Lake, to spend a little time with Bob's Mom. Shell Lake isn't actually a lake, it's a town attached to Memorial Lake (no one can adequately explain this to me). Anyways, it was another short visit, but fun, as we went out for an old fashioned pig roast, which was pretty awesome! We also managed a visit to the lake proper, although the chilly water and boat waves didn't do much for poor little Rowan.

The star of the pig roast. It was very, very yummy!

Our poser posing. Behind her is Mom, Aunt Christine and Great-Grandma Blanche and some random locals no one bothered to introduce me to.

The view from the pig roast onto "Lake Kissame." It used to be Bunting Lake before some hippies decided it needed a change of name. Nice place though.
Before we took off on Sunday we made a flying visit over Uncle Sean and Aunt Wendy's where we jibber-jabbered while Wendy snatched up Rowan and went to play with her. We like it when people we like take our baby away for a while! ;-)

The best picture I could get of Aunt Wendy, who apparently hates having her picture taken.

So there you have it, a month full of lake visits. I don't feel like we wasted our summer, not at all. In fact I would have preferred another weekend at home. Ironically, we were supposed to hit Fishing Lake with Aunt Kim & Uncle Murray (Godparents), but Bob got sick, Kim is pregnant and then the cabin got sold. Oh well. Next year, I'm told, we'll be tenting. I wonder if I can get wifi in my tent...
