Things 'n Stuff

Sorry guys, couldn't find a good picture to go with this post!

This was the month I was supposed to go back to work, start a new class and Rowan was to go to daycare. One of those things happened, the rest are in transit.

Rowan started daycare last week, and it's going great! She gets along with the other kids, who are total sweethearts, loves Sara, our daycare provider, eats great and even naps! I knew she'd eat well, but she often doesn't nap well at other people's houses. She doesn't nap quite as long as she would at home, but that just means that she's falling into bed dead-tired at bedtime and rarely needs any soothing during the night. Which is awesome for Mom and Dad!

Work? Still nothing. I registered with a temp agency and they haven't found me anything yet. I've sent out about 15 resumes and still haven't had any interviews. I'm starting to take this personally! I mean, I'm employable! I'm personable! I'm cute (not that that should matter) and really good at what I do! Just call my references! So if anyone reading this needs a bookkeeper or knows someone who's looking, LET ME KNOW! On the plus side, the system worked for me for once, and I have 14 weeks of EI left! Not part of my parental leave, but regular benefits that I'm entitled to. So at least that's some money that will be coming in to help cover daycare and what not. Since the daycare's paid for, Rowan might as well go. It's been nice to be able to leave the baby gate down and do some much needed house/car cleaning.

School? Well, SIAST instructors are on strike! Jerks! I get why they're striking, I'd be annoyed too if I hadn't had a contract for two years, but my class only lasts for 14 weeks. If they don't hurry up and settle, we'll be so far behind, it'll be difficult to get caught up. I mean, I'm paying to be there, it's not like high school where we hoped for a strike to have days off, I really want to be there! Hopefully they'll get things sorted out soon.

In baby news, Rowan popped her fourth tooth this summer. So she now has three up top and three on the bottom. She also "walked" (holding my hands) from the entry to the coffee table, so about three feet today! Much improved from the girl who never used to stretch her legs out and had to see a specialist for her hips! I think she's learning a lot from the other kids at daycare, which we knew she would. Bad habits will come too, we know. She also started pinching me in the last couple of days. Hard. I don't think she learned that at daycare, but it's proving to be a hard thing to break her of. She also is refusing a bottle and won't take breastmilk from a sippy cup, so we're down to two nursings a day now. She seems to be fine with it, but I worry that she might not be getting the nutrients from the milk she's missing out on. Sara has started to try to get her to drink cow's milk, and I'm going to give it a go with breakfast tomorrow morning and hopefully some patience and perseverance will pay off. Like most things with babies, consistency is key!
