Poop, Our World is Full of It

This has been the week of serious poop issues, but thanks to James’ penchant for research, we think we know what’s been going on. Hopefully we can fix it now!

Rowan has been pooping like crazy for the last week or so (imagine how upset she’ll be when she gets older and finds out that I put this on-line!). At first we didn’t think much of it, but then she started having weird poops. I won’t go into detail, but we knew that they weren’t quite the way they should be. Then came the “poop catastrophe” at daycare. Our provider was a little shell shocked and a bit upset when she told me what happened that day. One of the other kids came to her in a panic to get her to look in the playroom. There was poop everywhere. It took quite a bit of clean up and the other kids were pretty upset, so she’s put her foot down and won’t use the cloth diapers anymore. I’m a bit disappointed about that, but after hearing the story, I can understand. We’re still going to use them at home though. We rarely have the issues she does with making sure they’re on correctly and not leaking. This little adventure in feces culminated with 6 poops in one day, with two of those being blow-outs on a disposable diaper.

What’s going on?! I’m glad you asked! James did some checking and apparently this is due to her eating so many vegetables lately. Normally she’ll eat anything, but lately she’s been really wanting her veggies. We didn’t really think that would be a problem; veggies are good for you and she was also still eating some meat, loves her oatmeal in the morning and eats fruit and dairy like a champ. She’s still not all that crazy about drinking milk, but she’s still nursing, so I’m not too worried yet. Well, all the veggies and not enough grains are giving her the runs. Sigh. How do you manage to get them to eat the right amount of everything? It’s impossible! So at least we know and we’re going to make sure she starts eating more grains. So more brown rice, whole wheat pasta and some whole wheat bread. Hopefully this solves our poop problem and things go back to normal for a while. Wait, what’s normal again?

There is no normal, there is only Zuul.

BTW - I think you've stumbled across the main reason that CPM and I have exactly one child. ;)
