Settling in to the Early Morning

This is how my morning coffee should look...

So I've decided to just go with the flow and become a morning person. Sigh. I hate myself just a little for that. But I can't keep going the way I have been.
Since Rowan's sleep took a flip at 4 months, I've been fighting (her and myself) to sleep just that extra bit longer until 8am or so. It really hasn't been working all that well 'cause, well, she's a baby and doesn't know that she's not supposed to get up at 5am and stay up 'cause she can't tell time. So I've decided that for most of the week, I'm going to go to bed early, between 9-10pm (ugg) so that when she wakes up at 5am and won't go back to sleep, I'm okay to just stay up. So this morning, she woke up around 5:10 and I just let her chatter to herself since she wasn't fussing yet (and her chattering is so cute!) while I let myself wake up a bit. Then we got up and nursed. She went back to sleep and I got up, pumped, checked my email, got this post started and had a shower before she woke up at 8:00. A pretty good morning so far.

Pros:
- I can get more done because if she goes back to sleep, I have some time to myself
- I can get in a shower. Glorious showers!
- I'll get more sleep, especially on the nights when I go to bed early and she wakes up at 4am, nurses and goes back to sleep until 8am.
- Time to myself!

Cons:
- I've been up since 5:15!!!!! That's bloody early!
- No one else is up this early, so there's no one to talk to.

So the pros outweigh the cons, but we'll see if I can make this work. I think we'll all be a bit happier. Just as long as poor James can get back to sleep after I get up.
