It's been a while/Busy Weekends

It's been almost a month since my last post! Whew! How time flies and you just get too busy to do these things, even though you enjoy them. So here's the first of my catch-up posts; there will be more!

Visiting with Auntie Rachel

Mother's Day weekend was the first of our crazy busy times in May. We got a visit from one of my oldest friends, Rachel, who was in from Calgary. She came out to make a Mother's Day feast for her sisters (one who has a son), their mom and me on Saturday night. It was awesome! Rachel always learns the greatest ethnic recipes and this one was donair with tasty sauces and flat bread. Paired with a Lebonese (I think) beer, it was fantastic. And much easier to make than I thought it would be. I got the recipe for it and will be trying it out very soon.

Also on Saturday was our friends' son's 5th birthday party. Anna and Drew threw their son Byron a lovely little shindig, with lots of presents and tasty burgers. Drew's a great cook, but it's best not to ask Anna to BBQ as she has a bad habit of setting things on fire. Even Byron knows he should ask Daddy to make him dinner. But she makes a mean salad! It was a fun afternoon visit and Byron got some great presents. We had to leave early so that I could head to my feast at Rachel's, but I saw a bike hiding in the kitchen!

Mother's Day itself was pretty uneventful, which was just fine. James made me a tasty dinner and took a few extra bum changes, so that made for a nice mellow day. For myself, I think it's sorta silly for James and I to give each other gifts for Mother's and Father's day. I'm personally really looking forward to receiving macaroni art.
